-11:17 AM:
So while Crossgen has been having some major problems lately, resulting in wiping out most of their Sigilverse books over the next few months, there have been other aspects that are continuing. They're releasing new books, and are keeping some titles (Way of the Rat, Sojourn, El Cazador) while taking out a lot of the main unverse things (Scion, Crux, Ruse...and let's face it after Waid left Ruse's writing could suck the copper out of a penny.)
But.
What I found out this morning was this: They're cancelling Crossovers.
Now, Crossovers goes under Crossgen's 'Code 6' imprint. Meaning that it has no Sigilverse connection, and stands alone. It ends with issue 9.
Which comes out next week.
This is, of course, after later issues, up to #12, were being solicited as recent as last week. We seeing the problem, now?
Now, I'm going to wait until said last issue comes out next week before I jump to any conclusions, or open that little lock inside my head that keeps my temper on a very tight leash. But...there's a better-than-average chance that this book is going to be cancelled in Mid-Story. In. Mid. Story.
I'm not so sure I have issues with books being cancelled. It's happened so goddamn often in my life I've sorta numbed myself to the feeling of loss that comes with it. And...while I love this one book, books get cancelled. It happens. Cancelling a book in the middle of a storyline is just poor business, though. I mean, they might have a plot resolution already done, an 'emergency ending' perhaps. It will be abrupt, but I will deal.
But if they cancel a book in mid story...I will more than likely drop every Crossgen book out of a wish not to deal with a company that does business in this fashion. This would involve me dropping 11 books, and @ $2.95 each gives me a monthly savings of $32.45.
If the book were cancelled, with another issue or two to finish the current storyline, hey, fine, I can deal with that. But just cutting it off in the middle of a storyline is a sure way to alienate readers. And I will be one of them.
If that is how it happens. We'll know next week.
Bright side, though: New New Mutants this week and next, and another issue like 2 weeks after that.

Sigh.
Geeze. This is the 2nd time I've heard crossgen's haveing problems. No wonder they haven't gotten back to me about my portfolio. Why do all the companies I try to get a job at suddenly start having big money problems..
Blegh. I liked Scion, it has nifty art!
