I also found it kinda depressing where a book I found myself liking despite itself is now just a 'memory lane' article on a comics newssite. I walk down that path too much, lately.
My SO got the first one as a Christmas gift, and it shipped earlier this week, and arrived yesterday. First thing I did when I got home: Watched the first one as a reminder of what happened. :)
Going to go see it Sunday I think. VERY excited. :)
As to the book...I'm afraid I don't recall that one. :) Of course I think I'm considerably older than you are so I might not have had the option to read it when we were of equivalent respective ages. :)
Cripes, I loved YHiL. More than it deserved, probably, but it had such a sense of *fun.* It's a shame those characters have been relegated to Comic Book Limbo.
