Gah.

Okay, anyone who's really, really good with computers...help?

.

Okay, this started today. I did some virus and spyware scans and cleared anything up. But, every time I turn on my computer, I get this.

Explorer has caused an error in ~5151546057.TMP. Explorer will now close.

Now, When I do close, even if I don't have Explorer open, my toolbar and desktop icons disappear. So shutting down without restarting is a problem, and I have No idea how to fix this.

Help, please.

Hmmm

That's something I haven't seen, but researching at the same time.

What causes Explorer to close? What OS are you running? How long has this been happening? And can you start up in safe mode with no problems?

Is it the same filename every time (i.e., is it always ~5151546057.TMP, or does the file change)? If it is, try deleting the file, if you can find it, and see what that does. Also, assuming you can get there - most variations of Windows will let you get to a startup menu if you hit F8 when the machine first boots - try going into Safe Mode, going to Start > Run... > 'msconfig', and seeing what's running when you start your computer. (You need Systray, and you should probably keep Task Monitor; other than that, you can pretty much safely get rid of anything else.)

Good luck!

Never seen that one before, but if you have XP you can roll back your computer to before you got it, update your virus protection software and do a new scan. You roll back by going to Accessories/System Tools/System Restore. I've gotten out of virus/trojan situations using that.
