The gaming club itself has different games each week. For example, next Friday is Week 1. The club meeting takes place on week 1 every month, and Eric's Shadowrun game is then, which I enjoy for the sheer absurdity of it. It's not meant to be a serious game, and Karin even agreed that it was great for blowing off steam.

Now, Rod's been looking to start a game again, and I wanted in. I made a Cleric, and he offered 500 XP and 100 gold for anyone who did a 1000-15000 word history.

My background, completed, was 4,810 words. It was beautiful. It also got me 850 XP and 250 gold. For a first level character, this is prime, and I was ready to do some major RPing with all the other PCs.

Except Rod's decided to run the game on week 1. I have the other Shadowrun game, and I'm Not Leaving It. It brings a smile to my face. See, I brought up the idea of switching weeks before, since, among other things, Rod Hates the Meetings. He's made no secret of it.

As for me, I tried talking to him about it, and bringing up the salient points (like not burning out John, his cousin and who will, because he's moving his game to week 2, be running 3 games over two days). But, Christine, who wants in, usually works nights at Funcoland/Gamestop/whatever they're calling it. She talked to her managers, and had her entire weekend schedule switched around so she could get the first Friday off.

So, because it's me, I lose out.

I'm pissed at this. I really should say something.

Now, John, a GM I have fun with when he's not being a slave to the rules when it prevents the PCs from having fun (sorry, sometimes I fudge rules because of physics. If you have a web spell that covers a corner in a room and 60 feet outward from there, the Monk will NOT dodge it, I don't care what his save is.), is moving his game to week 2, which he has been running on week 1 for a few months now. I can play there, becuase I'm being hounded by other players to be a Cleric because they want one. "Oh, Kyle, play a Cleric. We need someone to heal us. Come /on/...*tug tug tug*." And so on and so forth.

I'm tired of spellcasters, though. I have kicked some major ass as a sorceror and a wizard in the past. Want to do something different. I'd be starting at 7th level...and I think there's fighters and barbarians all over the party as it is, with one sorceror.

Suggestions are welcome, even if is to just cave in to the badgering.

Oh, just a note, since I feel like starting the debate now, even if the movie is months away. I read the book, and remember. Something that must be said til it sticks: There was No 'Noble Sacrifice." Gollum TRIPPED! I can't stress this enough.

Tomorrow night...well, for one, I have to make sure I don't go retrieve comics. Second, I might be late in getting online. I want to try and get all my stuff done before Saturday morning, so I can Sleep In (But if a wake up call happens, it happens *blush*). One of which is the fact I need clothes. I'm taking a trip in a few weeks, and even if I feel I'm going to look shabby no matter what I wear, I still need something comfy and new. And shoes for work. New socks. Maybe another shirt or two...*sigh* Hello, I'm poor.

It just hit me earlier that next Friday is the 4th of July. I should see if Mike is having a Barbeque. I have a game that night, but I can go during the day, and it will end up being pretty okay. I just wish...I wish it was a real party. I've never really had one. It's always so tame, and nothing cool ever happens. Just like New Year's. Sigh.

-Update: 1:47 PM-

Guess whose job got busy for a bit? Well, at least I have lunch in a little, so I can post this. Odd...I didn't sleep much last night, but I'm not really tired. Hungry, yes. Tired, no.

And all morning, I've been smelling oatmeal in here. So I have this sudden urge to have some now. Quaker or whatever the popular brand in the packets...they had this Honey Nut flavor of oatmeal years ago. I could live off that stuff.

But, I know there's none downstairs, so I won't think on it.

But mmmmmmmm, wouldn't it be nice? :)

Playing the Cleric

Yeah, I know how that is. I frequently end up with the Cleric. I usually have fun with it because I come from a strongly philosophical background. But occasionally it gets old.

Although, you almost can't beat the adulation! On EQ I have a cleric and if I care to be an ass about it, I can have whatever I want. If I ain't there to Heal, it ain't happening.

This is why I did a half-elf Druid for two years... Cathbad was fairly awesome, despite being in a totally power-trip game. Especially given that the DM let us design our own cantrips and spells, and gave out killer weapons and techs - but then again, the enemies were just as horrific as we were.

That group did cure me of wanting to deal with Japanese-derived characters.

I like Clerics. I really do. But my major tabletop characters have been spellcasters, which is where my urge to do something different comes in. Not much of a philosopher, though.
