So, I finally caved and picked up my comics last night. I might, one day, actually drop books, because the stuff I do get adds up. I'll work that out later, what stays and what goes.
But, Exiles is good again, with something twisted happening in the latest issue that is making me wonder where this is going.
And... I don't care if it's WInick, or that we're all supposed to hate him for Titans/Young Justice: Graduation Day...Outsiders rocks my freaking world.
Nice art, and it has a lot of what I feel is Winick's strongest aspect: his dialogue. The way the characters play off each other, that's what gets my motor running with this.
And the conversation between the Joker and Lex Luthor...that was just priceless. I think it shows Luthor as a bigger badass than I've ever seen him, and he doesn't even /do/ anything. Of course, in the DCU, he's President. Just his attitude.
Best line is from Lex (You know, like in every Smallville episode). This is while he's being tortured by the Joker:
Lex: Yes, but I have a question...just one question...just one.
Joker: Yes, lambchop. What is it?
Lex: Does it bother you...bother you at all really...that Batman likes Catwoman better.
Upon which the Joker pretty much goes ballistic.
But man, it was just hysterical. Twisted and creepy and dark.
Of course, the folks on a number of message board say otherwise...but eh, I think I might stop reading most of those anyway. I'll stick to the New Mutants board on Comixfan, and maybe the Newmutants.net boards and sign up for those. Much nicer folks there.

gamerguy: Not sure whether the current artist for New Mutants, Keron Grant, left or was fired. A lot of what I heard about the book was that it was good, but his art was bringing it down. (At least catpryde told me so.) So, issue 4 (out next week) is his last one, with one artist doing the next two, then some guy named Carlos Barberi (sp?) taking over from there. What little I saw from Barberi (sp?) was a lot more legible, which is cool.
