Jul. 4th, 2004 10:05 pmI have tomorrow off, which cheers me up quite a bit. I can relax, perhaps sleep in for the most part. Not sure if I'm gonna stay up uber-late tonight or not.
Ever get really into a cartoon? I do. Often. The Kids Next Door one on Cartoon Network, I get a real kick out of when I watch it. It's fun, to be completely honest. Little kid secret-agent types. But I saw one tonight I hadn't seen before, and it hit me that there's actually a continuity being drawn up for it.
.
Like...okay, each Kid Next Door is known by a number. There's a recurring character, #274. He's known to be one of the best. He first shows up when his psycho parents start zapping the rest of the organization, to make him #1. We find out his name is Chad.
This one...Chad/274 is running the organization, and it turns out a number of the KND, including the main cast, are scheduled for decomissioning. In the organization, at 13 years of age, they're decomissioned by having their memories of the KND wiped out. Turns out CHad did it deliberately, to make folks forget he himself was turning 13. He is stopped, but is suddenly rescued by Bree, a teenage enemy of the KND, and older sister of one of the cast.
I remember another ep where Chad shows up as a villain...I sweat, it's continuity, in a way. It's cool and creepy, but I don't talk about it much. I bet any message boards I find on it will be scary places.
But I'm amused by it. I like the mythos that's set up.
But I have fun with it. Flipping channels, I found some Mickey Mouse cartoon on this morning (Seriously nothing on, lately). Minnie was giving Pluto a bath, and when she reached for the shampoo, she took the purple hair dye instead, and couldn't get it out before Mickey picked up Pluto for the dog show and conflict ensues.
Then it hit me...why in the Holy High Hell Does Minnie Mouse have hair dye in her bathroom. Why does she have shampoo.
Minnie....Girlfriend ain't GOT NO HAIR!
You know, the last time I pointed out stuff like this, it ended up with me getting smacked with couch pillows wielded by
hamsrergal and
razorsedge74. But STILL. NO. HAIR.
Shit like this makes me feel old. It really does.
