I'm not really in 'rage' mode. But, I need one for 'severe disappointment' and I am too lazy today to look. But, I'm barely disappointed, but something happened this morning that made me go 'well, yeah, thought so.'

So I'm driving to work, like I usually do. I'm even running a little later than normal because I started at 9 this morning. So, while I get caught at the railroad crossing in Matawan for the ten thousandth time, I notice something on the car in front of me. Not a bumper sticker in the traditional sense, but a banner of sorts.

The Next Dimension in Fiction

And this was pretty early on my way to work. Which, unfortunately, gives me time to think about it. Just what did they mean by 'the next dimension?' I mean, to me, that is interactive fiction a.k.a. Role-playing. Which is one of the two or three things on Earth I'm actually good at. And it was being advertised on this car in the 'real world' so maybe it was something...bigger, you know?

I steeled myself for when I got to a computer at work and checked it out. I had a feeling it was something like that, but I was still disappointed. I wanted something more, and the little far-fetched ideas I had about what would be on the other side of the link were way more exciting than what is/was there.

Then again, I had the same build up the first time I saw a Geek Squad car. What I imagined it meant was far cooler than what it turned out to be.

I wonder if it's self-inflicted. Like, how if I come up with these wild, interesting ideas, the universe at large uses a reflex action to mundane it all out.

Still...my idea was better.
