12:59 PM-

Hungry. I have lunch in an hour, so it's understandable. Haven't even been snacking, lately. There's no want to, or if I do, find something light and non-sugary to deal with. Animal crackers are on the 'okay in small doses' list, which is cool. No biggie. Just another hour, and doing these litrle musings makes the time go faster.

Something...someone around where I work was saying they had to get their taxes done before the 15th, next week. Yeesh. Not going to get into it.

But, considering I'm writing this, something's been on my mind. Livejournal itself. I've had one for...gonna say about 4 months under two years. And yeah, there's a lot of space in between those early entries, for a variety of reasons. Now, it's something I check daily, and I'm even getting the hang of posting consistently.

I've seen people get their accounts, and get others accounts, and it's just this odd feeling. It's become a Net mainstay, to me. Not in the 'you have to have one to be cool' mode of thinking, but it's become a part of the Net culture in and of itself. References to LJs all over, from MUSHes to web comics, to bulletin boards...it's a little creepy.

I wonder how far back it really goes? See, there's the 'passcode' needed for someone to get an LJ in the first place. I got my passcode from [livejournal.com profile] raemonde. Then I got one for having a journal for some short length of time, which I passed on to [livejournal.com profile] gamerguy. And I'm not sure to whom he gave his code to, or where Rae got his from.

It kinda reminds me of the passages I vaguely remember from the book og Genesis, to explain the geneaologies from Adam to Noah. You know, X begat Y who begat Z and so on and so on Where did it begin? (And you notice no one used begat in everyday conversation anymore. Odd, that. ;) )

Think that's funky? Try 'six degrees of seperation' with LJs. I've gone in circles in some cases, finding that the friends of friends of friends of mine were also on my Friends list. I wonder how connected we are.

What I wonder: For how long? I'm not knocking Livejournal. Not at all. But things come and go, with few ideas and concepts truly enduring. (like, say, 11-12 years ago, e-mail was an alien concept to me, and other people. I know this is not the case, and that e-mail existed back then, but now it's such an institution.) Is LJ one of those things? Will it become the next e-mail or Instant Messenger, in the method of widely accepted communications media?

Still hungry.
