It's odd. I was good and sleepy last night, after pouring my energy into three good scenes online. Went to bed, did a little reading, fell asleep. Still, I woke up tired, which bugs me, because I'm lacking energy which I feel I need, and it feels like time is dragging again. Last night overall was a good mood booster. Getting some scenes done that I had been meaning to move forward on, as well as takeout from TGIFriday's, which I do every so often. Their Chicken Fingers are so nummy, and the extra fries made sure I wasn't hungry a couple of hours later.

And new comics. One wierd, little-heard-of thing happening: An issue of Ultimates came out. I remember a time when comics came out monthly, or that people were ticked when a comic was continually late. :)

But the thing that irks me...is basically the fault of two people. Mark Waid and Barry Kitson. Their actions on previous things has given me cause to be majorly ticked, and I wish I had known them by sight so I could have taken out all of my lingering frustrations at the Comic-Con.

Kitson...okay, when you say you have all these big plans for the comic (the last Titans series), you don't lie about them or send a minion fill-in artist to do your work (espeically when one's fave character is involved.) Nor, when you do do your work on the book, do you do a half-assed job to the point where even /I/ notice it. A lot of talk for a lot of disappointment.

Waid...grrr. Let's try. When you sign an exclusive contract (Crossgen), it means you don't farking back out on it, period, for whatever reason. Especially when your last regular work (FF) you've been fired from, it's time to go crawling back. And you especially don't leave a book (Ruse), without making sure there's someone who's at least remotely competent to take over the story when you're not there. I should just drop Ruse, because it makes no bloody sense right now.

And then you two go and pull this shit...you brought Empire back.

Allow me to explain: Empire was their book on the now-dead Gorilla comics, which went for two issues. It's a book about what happens when Golgoth, some Dr. Doom-like villain, actually wins and conquers the world. It's an interesting concept, to be sure, and an interesting flip-side book. But, what readers look for in a book is something that makes them care about the characters. Here, Waid failed, big time. I want some hero to come in and kick ass like it always happens, but we have been given assurance (?) that it will not happen, so the readers are subjected to pages and over-written pages of people they don't like. That was for two issues, Gorilla Comics tanked, and that was the end.

And then DC decided to resurrect it, the little fuckers. Talk about not letting things go, Waid and Kitson were pushing for this for years ever since then, while doing half-assed stuff on the work they had.

Now, were it Shockrockets, I'd have been okay with that. Wierd little sci-fi story there, better writers to be sure.

But geez, I'm surprised I'm ranting on this so much.

Well, life isn't all bad. It never was, just that sometimes I feel I get more of a raw deal than others. Eh.

I did e-mail Eric, asking about the possible Mutants and Masterminds game. And, he likes the idea. Very much so, in fact.

The sitch: The 3rd Friday of the month, Eric runs his CHampions game.

Potential plan: Erik will run his CHampions game that day in August. In September, I will run a Mutants and Masterminds game for the same players. October, Eric's game again, and so on and so forth. I know the players will want to play the genre (Chris has been offering his soul for an M&M game), and I like it, and want to learn/master a new system.

I'm going to use the Freedom City setting, since there's some swet stuiff in there. Plus side: Fully realized world, lots of plot hooks and wicked villains. (My personal fantasy is watching the PCs beat the White Knight six ways from Sunday.) Minus side: Lots of villain ideas in the book, but no stats and I'm still learning the system, and chargen is...painful for me. Makes me feel my IQ is back down to 55. :(

Also, I have a few...ideas for fight scenes, and hope the players help with plot hooks for their characters, but sometimes I feel I come up short with plotlines, since I tend to think in linear terms more often than not.

In the meantime, I'm going to post something to the club's mailing list today about it, so I can start things in advance. If my first game will end up being September 19, I think a month and a half is a good amount of time for me to brush up on my skills.

Okay, finally got the game announcement done, to send to the club mailing list in a few. I know I don't have to do the whole writeup, but I want to show the players I'm for real, here. I have specifications set up (namely, YES I want character histories), and I have a rough guess of the players I'll have for the game (Eric, Dwight and Chris at least. Maybe one or two others who decide to switch games or walk in). But, I can't predict things now, so Im might just kick back and see what my e-mail will stir up.

As for now, it's almost lunchtime.
