Dec. 30th, 2003 08:47 amOh. Dear. Lord.
Okay, see, I've never been able to even look at an Archie comic on the stands since seeing Dogma, but this is just...I mean, I know it was years ago in 1968, but still.
I mean...and Comics Code Approved, too. That's the kicker, and why I'm laughing so hard I feel soda coming out of my nose right now.

Date: 2003-12-30 06:07 am (UTC)Take another look at the picture, and pay special attention to the line made by the intersection of the beach and the ocean. (For comparison, refer to the post-and-rope barrier.) Judging from what we can see of the beach, Archie is walking parallel to it - that is, given standard features of beaches (and supported by the fact that no variations appear under the plane of the water), the sand he's walking on should not be rising or falling significantly. At the same point out from the shoreline, several yards behind him, are the mentioned "three other guys", standing waist-deep in the water. (It could be argued that they're sitting, but given the absence of any indication thereof - knees poking out, sitting posture, et cetera - I doubt it.)
Archie ought to therefore be waist-deep in the water himself.
What's he walking on, then?
