If it's this early, and I'm starting to hammer out yet more journal entries, it's a feeling that today isn't going to go well at all. But, here I am, and I'm doing it anyway. I might end up sending e-mails tonight. A few people I keep losing touch with. Heck, haven't really hung out with some friends of mine in a while now. Though, Mike's wife is pregnant, and I imagine that takes up a lot of time. Still, it's been a while, and with my own farked-up scheduling, I keep losing track.

Or maybe Mike and I are outgrowing each other. It's not high school/college anymore, and we basically have our own seperate lives and all that good stuff. In a lot of ways, I'm not sure if it's fair.

Back to yesterday, and the Cleric issue. I can play a Cleric. It's not a bad thing, but I really start wanting to think over my own options. Druid, for example. The party does have elves and barbarians in it, so there wouldn't be that much of a conflict. Shapeshifting, nature stuff, and enough healing spells to make it workable. No Raise Dead, and I despise Reincatnation because it makes PCs difficult. But...it does allow me some leeway.

Or, A paladin. Reduced Healing, which the party does need, but I do get to kick ass and take names, and I can play a Paladin miles better than Brandon ever could. (Of course, players like him are the reason I bar any Chaotic Neutral characters in any game I run. If I had the pull, I'd forbid them from any game I play in, just to be on the safe side.)

But if I do go cleric...see, there's one major issue. The GM prefers to use the dieties out of the Player's Handbook. Simply put: those dieties suck. Greyhawk's not a popular world for a lot of reasons, and I partially blame the small (in the PHB) and substandard choice of dieties. The Realms uses the same base demihuman gods (Moradin, Correllon, Yondalla, et al), but has more per the demihuman race. Now, if I had an elf or a half-elf or a dwarf, I might be able to swing one of the smaller dieties. No Drow, for example. I wouldn't dare try it.

And Dwarves have tons of battle dieties. They're always fun. :)

Another sneezing fit. I'm pretty much over the cold I had a few weeks ago, but here at work I find myself having sudden sneezing fits, which come and go quickly. Maybe I'm allergic to something, I dunno.

In less than a month, I will be 28 years old. At the moment, I can barely picture it. It's hard to explain. I've refused birthday cake for the last few years, mostly because I didn't want to deal with it, but I wonder if this year will be different. Heck, I know I'm not going to have the party I really want for it. :( And I'm not sure hwo to feel about my incoming birthday. Curiousity, wonder, anger. There's a bit of anger around the whole thing, even when I know there shouldn't be.

I've been finding myself hungry around this time. And it's starting to get to me, so I figure I need to start carrying something to snack on every so often. No big thing, but I do find it a little hard to concentrate right before lunch. And, when work does pick up like ti does now, my concentration kinda loses out. Of course, it's now 1:45 PM, because of a rush of the really maddening kind of phone calls...sigh.

There was an old acrade game. One of those 4-player scrolling platform games. Sega produced it, and it was called 'Quartet.' I believe there was a sequel, as well. Very basic game, and it popped into my head a little while ago, and I'm wondering.

Was Quartet released for any game system? If so, which? If so, is there a working ROM for either the home system or MAME? If so, where is it? :)
