New comic day. Cool.

Something I remember hearing on the radio yesterday and my reaction:

Radio announcer: And, Martha Stewart is 63 today.

Me: Isn't that, like, 9 in Pure, unadulterated, all consuming Evil years?

Okay, hello boredom. :)

Well, at least you didn't get lost in East St. Louis.

Well, you should know enough not to go to East St. Louis in the first place...but easiest way to get back to civilization is to head for the casino and hop back on the highway...

Martha Stewart is Teh_Evul!

I've never really understood why so many people hate Martha Stewart. I mean...sure...she screwed up royally with dubious business practices, but the lady really does know some fascinating stuff. I think she epitomizes:

'We the willing, led by the unknowing, have been doing so much, for so long, with so little that we're now qualified to do anything with nothing'

Then again I don't think I've ever watched her show. :)

Besides her glorification of the banal, she is a fraud in every aspect of the word.
She lures people (mostly women and a few gay men) into the belief that their lives are not worthy because they do not do things 'beautifully' enough, that they accept the mass-produced and that they are inferior human beings for so doing.

However, the life of infinite creative craftishness she espouses is a lie. She does not, and in fact, cannot, do most of what she talks about. She is a control freak, though. When she appeared on a program with Julia Child, she had the utter gall to try to tell Julia that her turkey would not look perfect enough ... Madame Julia finally gave her a withering gaze with 60 years of experience in REALLY teaching people about fine food, and replied, "Nobody cares how the underbelly of the turkey looks." Unfortunately it did not penetrate the thick armor of narcissism that Ms Stewart maintains.

How then, does Dartha Martha do it? She buys expertise, hiring people who DO have the skills, and then takes credit for their work. After all, if she tells them 'oh, make it pink' then she's the one who decorated the entire damn cake.

I won't get into the stories of her abusive treatment of her husband and children, nor of her callous methods in getting rid of unwanted, no-longer-cute housepets, except to say that they were widely corroborated.
