Taking a little break from reading at my desk. Not a book, I save stuff on disk to read on Word. Less space, and a quick Alt-Tab brings me back to work screens. But, this is one of those days where I'm reading, the phone rings, I deal with a caller. I get done with the call, and by the time I go back to where I left off while reading, the phone rings again. Gah, too slow.

Though, the boss called me in for the mid-year review. Yes, the mid-year review was on August 31st. We're used to it from my boss right now. But...I got good marks on everything. No real issues, nothing that'll bring me down for end-of-year. This means that I'll get another raise come January. I wonder if this will mean a promotion or something, considering seniority and the fact that I actually fucking work when I'm in the office.

But, the company as a whole is turning profits, and if I balance my cashflow right, I can get my X-mas shopping by the beginning of December, and with the bonuses we get from work, I will be able to get a new computer at the beginning of next year *makes roof-raising motions*.

Yes, I think this far in advance.

So, the mid-year went a LOT better than I expected, overall. I thought I was going to get raked over the coals, because I'm not perfect. But, hey, I'm not going to argue with what my boss said. O:)

When you work at a place that unconsciously rewards mediocrity, and you deliver competence, you ARE perfect, by their standards anyway.

Do you guys have Acrobat on your computers? Because you find free books on DriveThruRPG.com.

...

I just crossed the line into dweebdom, didn't I? :/

Well, I've got myself a free version of the "dX" system BESM is based on last night. Some companies also give away "books" as a promotion for periods of time. The books that aren't free are cheaper than a hard copy, and companies that post their stuff are generous with their out of print books as well. It looks like White Wolf as their entire library on site, including The New World of Darkness®.

The catch? You have to have Acrobat 6.x, because they've done some sort of rights protection. Usually you download an e-book file, which leads you to the pdf. I haven't tried moving the physical location of the pdf file.

Which I think I have at home. I might try, but I bet that would be WebSensed at my job.

Still can't find my BESM book, but Eric's confirmed the change for his game. After the wedding. :)

If Ian lives through it, he will do a fucking jig. Shit, if I knew how to, I'd do the jig. Just because, you know, I've always wanted to do a jig.

I should get together with Stewart to recalibrate Ian and actually spend the hoarkin' amounts of karma he has. You know, just I can say, "Yeah, I improved Ian just for the wedding. I knew it would be special for you, Eric."

And I should double check my posts before I hit the button. This is twice tonight.
