dewingedWoot! Ended up waking up about 20 minutes early after having another strange dream I can barely remember. Go me! :P
Okay, slightly sarcastic, but it means I am awake, and actually have time this morning for a Journal entry. There...it's an off week at the gaming club tonight, with no regular monthly games scheduled. So, instead of going, I'm going to get some business done tonight. Namely: Laundry (big surprise there). And, the local H&R Block is a few doors down from the laundromat, and they close at 10. So there's a big rush I get at getting my taxes done before February 1st. :)
Tomorrow, the car place opens at 8 AM, and I want to get my car's oil changed. Then, more sleep, then gaming. Sunday is All Mine. Woot! *ahem*
On listening to the radio this morning, two things. One: A Simple Plan's "I'd Do Anything" is a neat song, but the lead vocalist sounds a LOT like Wierd Al Yankovic. (When /is/ Al putting out his next album anyway? The last one was around when Phantom Menace came out.)
The other: SOme survey was done for the greatest movie scenes of all time.
Amonng the top five were the last scene from Sixth Sense, the Chest-busting scene from Alien, the sinking of the Titanic, and the top was the opening to Saving Private Ryan. Not bad scenes, but not close to my own faves. So, I started thinking...
My top 5 fave movie scenes:
5) The end of 'Beautiful Thing.' Sweet, adorable, and I love the Mamas and the Papas.
4) The scene where the protagonist finds the pods in 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers.' Screw the gore and slasher flicks, this movie (The original one, mind) is probably the scariest thing I've ever seen.
3) Lion King. The 'Be Prepared' sequence. Beautiful, beautiful stuff.
2) The Matrix, when the audience finds out what the Martix IS for the first time. My blood turned to fucking ice water the first time I saw that.
1) The last ten minutes of "Angels with Dirty Faces.' Jimmy Cagney at his ultimate coolest. It's a long story, but my GOD this scene just ruled all.
