My mind is elsewhere

dewingedOk, I'm skipping any comments about Valentine's day. It's just easier on all of us.
Now, Lord of the Rings: 13 Oscar Nominations.
This. Fucking. RULES.
Yes, there's a best picture nod, and a best director nod, and one for Ian McKellan, but the rest seem to be in the technical departments. I'm pulling more for the tech awards, and McKellan, because there's no chance LotR will win Best Picture. Much as I hate to say it.
See, 2 of the other Best Picture noms are about the mentally absent, and the Academy, when it comes to roles like that and movies about them, tends to pee all over themselves in excitement.
McKellan has a chance, if someone at the Academy invokes the Michael Caine clause before the votes are tallied. McKellan's done a crapload of good stuff. Gods and Monsters alone was just /so/ freakin' good. And he was damn near perfect as Gandalf.
